/jp/ - Otaku Culture

Hi touhou newbie here.
I've been getting my butt kicked on the second game for a couple of days, but I wanna see it through to the end and maybe even the entire series. I love the songs, the subculture, and I would marry Reimu were she real so I am dedicated.

But I have A LOT of questions:
1. Is keyboard the best/preferred way to play these games? I have a bunch of console controllers if those are considered better, but I'm not sure.
2. Are bombs best used against bosses or mobs?
3. Is playing with 5 lives considered not-standard or an inferior way to play? I know that to get the true end you need to not use continues, and I wanna get that, but getting it with just 3 lives seesm impossible right now.

And just any other general tips are appreciated!
