Tae Kim recommends I trace over Kanji and learn the stroke order for some to help memorise them better but that seems like a pain in the ass. Anyone care to weigh in on how they do with it vs just using Anki?

No clue. It said it was eligible for amazon international shipping, and then it shipped from some posh sounding Segaotosumthingorother place to Narita and then the Narita facility sent it back to amazon. I contacted support and all that support could tell me was that "this item could not be shipped outside of Japan". I asked him if it was my country and he just said it was not possible to ship it outside of japan. So they refunded me the price of the ona (the PPP new new) but not the shipping. And international shipping being what it is that was actually the bulk of the order. So, I just gave it a try and ordered the mokomoko. Fingers crossed if worked, if not oh well, I've learnt a valuable lesson and I'll buy it at a markup through regular amazon when it's available. Even amazon.com markups are tolerable compared to the absolute ass ravaging that websites like otona and toydemon charge for shipping to these here parts.
