The demand for idols has always overwhelmed the opposition and so idol threads of some sort have always been here on /jp/, although gravure hasn't been common.

The Hello! Project threads have always been around while AKB48 threads started appearing in late 2009, although we admittedly spent most of those arguing with harowota, but they became more prominent and serious in recent years along with the group itself, while there have been even rarer threads for other, more obscure, idols of the singing and dancing variety.

On top of all this, the board even had junior idol threads in its early days until the mods stepped in and this is actually the only time that mods have shown any real opposition to such things.

I probably won't post in it much but I'm not sure what the big deal is with this thread being here given some of the ridiculous spam threads that get posted here every hour and at least these girls are actually attractive in comparison to most of those girls who blasphemously cosplay as Touhous and do lewd things.

So yeah. I hope you enjoyed this history lesson, kodomos. Feel free to ask any questions of people who were actually here back then instead of just repeating what you heard from those who weren't!
