Nah, that's not it, just randomly shoving in alternate solutions without good cause doesn't work.
Like, in Fallout, you *have* to go to Necropolis and take the Water Chip from their vault. You get multiple ways to deal with the situation there, but no matter what choice you make, you have to deal with Set and the Super Mutants.
You can't just pop by Vault City and take one of their spares, because it's important for the flow of the narrative and the gameplay that you learn of the Unity there, setting up the second half of the game. It's all designed with a clear purpose.
Similarly, Wakasagihime's item, while not fully implemented, is obviously supposed to revolve around her. It's a thing that exists exclusively to solve a problem that only exists for her and she should always be at the center of that solution.
