I have been playing on this character for a long, long time. (since like 1.30 something as far as E+ versions) I haven't tried out wizard mode, either.

Also, pets not running out of attract from just talking is normal. They'll always love to talk with you unless they hate you or something.

Known ways to actually decrease pet attract are things like using them in the Ensemble special action or smacking them. Not 100% sure on others, though.
