I softened the sides of the nose and tweaked the shape of the mouth. I also added a texture to the model and adjusted the lighting (Blender's default shading makes the model look too sharp, as I said before).

As long as the shape is right, I don't think it should matter whether the hair bulk is a part of the shell or added later. With 3D printing, it makes a lot more sense to just make the shell with the exact shape desired rather than adding stuff or cutting holes afterwards.

Anyways, I see what looks like a "hair ridge" on inside photos of Sigma masks. Not sure if that's actually what it is, but I'm not sure what else it would be.

The mask in that picture doesn't look any fuller than the ones I've made. And like I said before, I don't see how the back of the mask should affect the face shape at all.
