That they can, and yeah, I can see why people would want a guarantee. That's a lesson in not mindlessly snapping at people for disagreeing with you, which I guess I can put next to the other 20 lessons I had in making a total fool out of myself.

I was coming from a "these things never happened on old DMM threads -> I was in old DMM threads -> therefore it's all the fault of these greenhorns that joined during the Nutaku/postNutaku eras" angle, but seems that I've slowly turned into an intolerant dickbag instead.
