Amusing. This entire discussion happens every time a story with an unclear end happens. There are three camps.

People are ok with the ending, people who wanted the series to end in a different way and who flip out over it, and people who totally love the ending and relentlessly mock the people who got pissed at the story.

Even your arguments are the same. There's always some n00b arguing that the canon really was ripped of from source X (not understanding that stories often have similarities - everything has been done, originality doesn't exist), that the author's suddenly a hack, someone arguing that all their time was wasted, and so on.

Always the same, regardless if it's a series of novels, a TV series, or a "game". Never change, people, never change.
