There's nothing significant in Takano's life that hasn't been covered already. You could probably get more about a manga focusing on Hifumi and Koizumi during WW2 than you could milk out of Takano.

And really, sequels are fine. Mei follows directly after Higurashi and it does enough of its own thing that even with Kanou at the helm it's perfectly enjoyable.
Gou/Sotsu's issues was that they were written in a disingenuous manner that was completely lacking in substance, even after the reveal, where the writers clearly had no idea what they should be focusing on, so they instead wasted time on everything except the core conflict.
