I wonder if Asuka was supposed to be the singer of 1.0/2.0's ending song? The bed scene reminds me of one of the song's lines, and as a scene it's way larger and more clearly-defined than the scene in the anime, where she just wordlessly laid down next to him then said something about her mom in her sleep.

Kinda shitty that they removed the bit about her mom, making it look like a bare bid for companionship as well as her depression following being outperformed (even the outperformance was replaced with a normie-smelling scene where she simply 'needed help.') It's like he dialed down everything about Asuka other than her superficially appealing qualities because he was afraid his normie audience would find an emotionally fucked and misanthropic female protagonist with separation problems freakish.
