How do Touhou characters get their powers? For some it's clear that they were obtained through study (Marisa being able to use magic), while others are traits inherent to a type of creature (Shinmyoumaru being able to use the Miracle Mallet as an inchling) and others simply aren't supernatural in nature (Eirin being a "natural genius"). But what about something like Sakuya's time manipulation, or Remilia's fate manipulation? How, when, and why do these special abilities manifest?

Where does Sakuya get her ability from? The other ordinary humans in Touhou with special powers either get them from channeling divine power (Reimu and Sanae) or just constant training (Marisa) and neither one of those seem to apply to Sakuya.
