/jp/ - Otaku Culture

Shouldn't /jp/ of all places understand other cultures?
Should /jp/, that knows the struggle japan had with it's extreme amecarization after WW2, understand the problems with national identity and culture and how violence doesn't do anything but make those problems worse?
...or do you guys here just talk about tohou and sage random threads?
I'm not a regular but it baffles me that people that should belong in /pol/ actually post here, what do they even -do- here?
