Unironically I think Umineko was the patient zero for a lot of what's wrong with Ryukishi's works these days. The avoidance of consequences by fictionalizing and invalidating everything that's happened in the work for one- Trianthology, Gerokasu, pic related about Sotsugou, plus the weirdly spiteful cynicism- that one short with Lambda and Bern comes to mind, where he was like, oh Satoko used the power of spite to power through studying rather than friendship and that's what got her a happy ending this time, being negative and spiteful is good. Like, he tries to be spiteful and cynical and make situations as bad as possible in a lot of places, but then he can't handle the consequences so he just handwaves it with oh it was all just a story, a metaphor, nothing's real, I'm so deep even though this directly makes it as shallow as possible. I don't know if BT's death just completely broke him or what, but it feels like he's been spinning his wheels for a long while now. Even the Umineko Mei stories feel like he's trying to backtrack on the tragic parts of its end (more than he already did with the "oh dw Beatrice you only killed those people repeatedly in *this* dimension, we'll go to Brazil where nobody knows us and it'll be fiiine!" in the last ep), like he just can't deal with letting it be.

You say that while at the same time quoting him saying that his concept of a story involves the very flaws you're complaining about, HE was the one who made them involve the nonsensical plot where Rika just becomes retarded and blind for no reason. His writing has simply gotten worse. He even immortalized Sotsu here so he's cleary perfectly okay with how it turned out. Thinking he would've done it differently is just cope when he himself is explaining his writing while still including the flaws everyone hates.

She didn't have the power for another loop during Matsuri itself, which just lasted a few days. We don't know how her power would work afterwards.

Ryukishi himself has written stuff where she recovers afterwards like Gou/Sotsu themselves (when she absorbs fragments, and we see her in another world by the ending) or the old post-Matsuri Tatarigoroshi audio-drama.
