>Are they well written, would you recommend them?
Personally when it comes to otaku medias I'm the sort of person who always enjoys everything he consumes, or at the very least rarely have regrets, even things that are often considered clichés or mediocre, so for that reason I might not be the best person to ask and I'd rather not recommend anything by fear you end up regretting buying them.
So far I've barely read LNs too, I'm more of a manga/VNs person when it comes to read, so if you're the sort of person who reads a lot of them your standards might be different than mine.

You can read previews of what you're hesitating on buying by googling 読み試し or checking amazon.jp comments.

Also from my experience used books from Japan are always in pretty good shape and can sometimes be found for really cheap, so that's also an option you could consider if you want to play it relatively safe.
