Given how disillusioned Battler was at the time after seeing his family's greed put on display, I could definitely see him swiping a bottle from behind the counter in the guesthouse and bringing it upstairs to Erika's room. Reasoning that "If they're going to bring me into their adult conflicts, then I at least deserve to enjoy some adult benefits" as he uncorks the bottle and pours himself a glass.

Erika meanwhile would've taken the opportunity to seal up the cousin's room with duct tape while Battler was downstairs before welcoming him into her room. She'd have nothing left to do until morning and figured she could use the time to unwind. All she had to do was make sure Battler stayed within her sight so she could keep his alibi.

She'd have a stack of some mysteries she'd brought from the archive, while Battler would have a deck of cards he'd brought to play with the cousins. They'd spend some time drinking, chatting about mysteries, and playing cards as things get more exciting through the night.
