Not the Argiope spider, on which Yamame's design is based! In fact, the Argiope spider's mating ritual involves the male weaving a web near the female's until she gets used to him and accepts his company. I wrote a whole story predicated on this concept; it had BETTER be accurate.

Also, Argiope spiders are known as kogane-gumo (money spider), considered an invitation of good fortune - literal and figurative - and cherished around Japan. Yes, Yamame was doing it before Mike made it popular. In addition, the wavy patterns Argiope weave into their webs is meant to warn and prevent birds from getting sticky, white spider stuff all over themselves while flying low. Yamame is a very kind, considerate girl, you know!
