Lots of people visit 4chan only for entertaining themselves at someone elses expense. If they will detect anything that makes you react, they will spam that. Oh, you hate normals, crossboarders and don't like when someone is asking dumb questions? Not, only that, you also dedicate half of the thread voicing your fears. Better spam that for weeks and months, if that will be still amusing. The more you react, the more amusing it will be.

/vg/ thread for jrpgs had one guy that kept recommending muv-luv as the best jrpg possible, derailing the thread and spamming pictures. He was around a year ago, and I bet he is still around there.
Its a curse of permanent "general" threads, and a curse of highly populated threads, where you can get reply in less than a minute and thus turning a thread into some sort of IRC shitfest.
