lol I don't know how the game was like in the early days. I can tell you that I like the game because firstly, I can fight as my waifu. Secondly, the 3D stage is fucking brilliant. Third, I get to fight as StS Fate.

Everything else, I don't really care about.

The only complaints I have about the game is that they need more characters, movesets and stages. Also, the key configuration is ridiculous.

All in all, it's still fun.

You have a couple of options. You can either download it or google everything. Alternately, you can wait until I post the patched game (it's at 98% now) or not play at all.
