I'm not sure about evolution potions since they can be easily taken away by a bad dream or stray mutation from drinking from the well. However, they can be somewhat (but not totally) controlled with the "It prevents mutation" line before doing either one of those things, but make sure you de-equip it any time you quaff an evolution potion.

Top wishes are usually Happy Bed, Secret Experience of Kumiromi, Kagami Mochi, speed rings, aurora rings, and vindale cloaks. My personal pick is getting the secret experience, since everything else can be obtained mid to late game just by investing in shops, and multiple feats really come in handy later on.
