Nicoanon here, I'm back with another report. Though this is more of a recommendations list for neat videos on nicodouga, and again, trends I've noticed lately.
First off, while back then we were witnessing the boom in popularity of the Virtual Youtuber genre, with the Four Heavenly Kings being quickly established, right now there's a focus on amateur/smaller youtubers, greatly inspired by the Boss and the Heavenly Kings, except with less quality, funding and popularity. I'm sure you guys have noticed how a new youtuber seems to sprout every couple days with all kinds of characters from cute girls to gorillas.

Yomemi, despite being another brainchild by Eilene, is one of these "new" youtubers. Eilene made her a niconico account too http://www.nicovideo.jp/user/76688221 where her YT videos are also uploaded. Curiously enough, Moemi doesn't have an account, which means her videos are only on niconico if someone else decides to reprint them. My guess is that Eilene's going to eventually retire Moemi, probably due to personal issues by Yoriko but she still wants to continue the project, hence a "different" character than Moemi but not so different. Elevens have noticed Yoememi's nasal voice too, and one of her videos is tagged with "Stuffed Nose Hamutaro" (a la Strangled Hamutaro) and "Nasal Congestion".

Noracat, while not new, is probably the one who's benefitted the MOST from the focus on amateurs. Elevens call her (him) "Internet Succubus Ojiisan" and here's a cut from one of her (his) streams, where one of the viewers want her (him) to say "I love you" and she (he) does it with max smugface and seductiveness. Airi-chan aka Ponko (from Ponkotsu aka junk) aka the weather virtual "youtuber" (she's officially called a WEATHEROID. Seriously.) is one of those small names who are surprisingly gaining popularity. Gengen is surprising, he's REALLY popular, apparently he already had a fanbase before he decided to start being a Vtuber: http://www.nicovideo.jp/user/12046588/video . Maybe part of his popularity is because he's the first obviously homo Vtuber and anything homo is memeworthy a la inmu, not my cup of tea desu.

I think part of the reason why they're all gaining popularity is thanks to THIS guy: http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/60671812 , he makes...I guess you could called them "Virtual Youtuber Digest" videos, which are essentially compilations of funny moments from pretty much every Virtual Youtuber, big or small. They're extremely popular, they're pretty much at least 100k+ views, most of them hovering near 200k. YUGE numbers for niconico, I guess this is how the average japanese keeps up with the scene instead of watching every video from every Vtuber. Everyone's in there, even Hoonie.

And on Hoonie, some of her videos have been reprinted on nico. Not very popular though, but I hear she has a sizable japanese fanbase already. I'm pretty much talking about her here only because I like her.

One of the current trends is making MADs with the song Dance Robot Dance http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm32638932 (using Sora's as an example). Pretty much every Vtuber has a parody, even Gorilla has one. There's so many of them that naturally, comparison videos (where a bunch of them are played side by side synced) appeared like http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm32617281 . And there's so many of THOSE, there's a comparison video of comparison videos of DRD Vtuber MADs http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm32622081 . Things get pretty hectic at 2:12, worth a watch.

But anyways, all this doesn't mean the Heavenly Kings aren't popular anymore, in fact they still are. People are starting to edit and experiment with the models now instead of just sticking it on a stage with a motion and song. The edits are anything from palette swaps, to different outfits, to just sticking the head on another model's body. Akari probably has the most edits, giving her pantyhose+jean short shorts instead of the skirt, palette swap for red and black theme, giving her heels, putting her head on Miku's body in a qipao for Tougen Renka, making her thicc, and for the R-18 stuff: giving her sling swimsuit, wearing only the thong and pasties (how this is allowed on nico is a mystery), making her a gyaru, or any combination of all of the above. Seriously. Look up Mirai Akari with the R-18 tag if you're interested, there are some rather good ones with hip thrust dancing.

For Siro, I've seen less, mostly palette swaps, but there's this one in white/black frilly dress, fishnet stockings and heels http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm32642752 .
For Nojaloli....well, other than the nude edit, someone also took off the sleeves for some reason.
