As for age, I think of her as older. Although I don't really say anything about it, it upsets me a little when I see others call her dumb, because there's no way she is with so many years to her name. Silly is fair.

Gou/Sotsu did several things that upset me, but one of the things I quite liked was that it made Hanyuu look more mature than she did in the Deen anime, giving her an obvious chest, a somewhat taller stature, and somr curvier hips. Gave her much more of a shorter woman appearance rather than a child. I was very weary about mentioning my love for her to others when the latter was most of what I could show if they asked, because it could easily give others the wrong impression. Not nearly as much of an issue anymore for me, thankfully.

Although most of my exposure to Higurashi has been through the animes, I do own the VNs and plan to read them when I get the time. I've also read minagoroshi in the manga.

Funny, when I was taking Japanese courses college, the name I went by in class was Riku. At the time I first chose that name to go by, I didn't know of the console arc showing Hanyuu having previously been married to a man by the same name.
