For beginners
Everything you need to know about tenhou itself can be found here http://arcturus.su/tenhou/

Explanations for the tiles, rules, scoring etc can be found here:

Hand Calculator: http://no-info.no-ip.info:6224/mj/mahjong.html

Please read 2-3 sites before playing and even then try the singleplayer games first.
Playing without knowing what you do is not only frustrating for yourself but also for your opponents, a player that left because he couldn't ron for his no Yaku hand or because someone ron'd his discard just kills the whole fun for everyone.

Usually, a game lasts around 30 minutes, so please, if you're not going to stay until the end, respect the other players and don't join a new game.

Also keep in mind that Mahjong is more a game of "not losing" than straightforward winning.
Furthermore you play with 3 other people and luck plays a big part in it, so dont expect to win more than 1 out 4 games, especially not as a beginner.

If you read some of the linked sites and still have questions feel free to ask.

Hey guys.
Trying out mahjong. I have no idea what I'm doing than trying to get the same tiles together, I don't know what the moonspeak on any of the buttons mean, I've just been calling "han" over and over again, none of the cpu doing anything. I won somehow. I don't know why.
how's your mahjong coming along /jp/?

Does anyone have an image or web page link that shows all mahjong hands, if they can be open or closed, and their value?

Mahjong players I have been looking for a single player english flash version of riichi mahjong and have finally found one.

http://www.gamestertown.com/game/2404/Mahjong.html

The problem is that several times when I think I have a winning hand and I click ron I get a pop up message that says no multiplier also while I have seen the computer players call riichi many times I have never been able to. Are these bugs or am I just doing something wrong? Can someone play a few games of it and tell me if it is bug ridden or if I just suck?

I can only really pick out the clearer notes in the intro, as well as some of the singing. I'm not skilled enough in picking out the chords and stuff. Maybe I should just stick to my Touhous.

Sorry for failing.
