Don't bother charging beyond Level 2. The CPU more or less runs on a timer that only a few characters fuck with. There's no such thing as playing offensive, it's all about defending yourself, and so, being able to use 3 semi bombs to get yourself out of trouble is much more valuable than getting a full screen clear once but beyond at the mercy of a potential reversal.
Round 1 AIs starting from Round 6 are a lot more robust than they'll be in the following rounds. With extends you can get from scoring, which you can go about rather carelessly with most characters, don't sweat it if you lose these Round 1 matches on Stage 6 through 9. What matters for the sake of having enough ressources is not losing more after that, but as I said before, it should get marginally easier: Stage 6 through 8 ( which is usually Komachi for R8 ) will rarely last more than 2 minutes on a Round 2 on Normal, whereas Eiki is a little more volatile, which is why it's good for you to have a good amount of lives going into Eiki, though she's doable in Round 2, I'll assume your skills in relation to what she throws at you will only let you last a bit less than 3 minutes once you have a decent grasp of her, in most cases, which is, for Round 2 & 3 against her, a time that could go either way, and if you had 4 lives going into her, it's very likely she'll at least give you a 2:30 or less Round at some point.
