But, to your shock, you find your ship being caught in the gravity of a large planet! Forcing you to make an emergency landing and crashing on the new planet's surface.

The planet matches the Habitat they live in. Their Disposition and Diet reflects their culture.

Finally, roll a D4 here: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm .This determines how far their society has progressed technology-wise.

1: Primitive, they have no written language, and their speech is merely grunts and crude words. Living in caves or simple huts. To them you seem like a god.
2: Feudal, they've progressed to an ages similar to the Medieval age of Earth. There's a basic society in place, with a written and spoken language, but with technology still vastly inferior to your own.
3: Modern, equivalent to the 21st century of Earth. A modern setting with vehicles, firearms and everything else you'd expect. Space exploration is limited however, barely extending beyond their own solar system.
4. Space-faring, a match for Humans themselves, perhaps even greater? They've explored a decent amount of space, clearing out a territory of their own. It's surprising that you haven't encountered them earlier.
