LSD is effectively non-toxic in even the highest recorded dosages. Some people have taken doses upwards of hundreds of milligrams (a typical dose is on the order of a few hundred MICROgrams; so that's 1000x a "normal acid trip") and come out the other end without any permanent physical damage. By comparison, less than 4x a typical recreational dose of opiates can cause death via respiratory depression, and there are compounds that can cause death solely by neurotoxic effects in doses thousands of times less than an effective dose of LSD (ie. botulinum toxin aka Botox).
