I began to suspect them since we never really got an Episode where they were both alive and were the main leads for it. I was kinda disappointed when I found out in the end since we never had a reason to care much for them besides that scene where Rudolf cried for his dead son. Really the only bit of Characterization either of them had before the reveal was in Episode 1, Episode 3 where they fought Eva and the stakes, and Episode 4. I feel like it would've been so much better if we just got to know more about them, But it was still rather tragic in the end.
