Arima Kinen 2500m Turf. Nakayama Racecourse. Going: Firm. Starts at 15:25 JST

>Titleholder
By Duramente x Mowen (Motivator). Won the voting polls. A runaway monster with a perfect record this spring. Won 2 G1 races this year (Haruten 3200m, Takarazuka 2200m) both by lengths. Big stamina bulk and speed but not instanteneous. His last run this autumn was in Prix de Triomphe 2400m at France, finished 11th. Ground conditions were not to his liking. No Japanese horse has ever won this race due to the ground and training discipline being way too different than the europeans. For Arima Kinen, he drew gate 13th which is not ideal since the race has gate bias to inner gates. And him being a 逃げ means he needed the inner gates the most. Though Daiwa Scarlet won the 2008 Arima Kinen from the same gate while running the same tactics.
tl;dr - Monster runaway horse but drew a bad gate. Might be tired from longchamp swamp.

>Equinox
By Kitasan Black x Chateau Blanche (King Halo). Probably the best horse from the 2022 classic generation so far. Won the thrilling Akiten 2000m two months ago by chasing down the runaway horse Panthalassa who ran the race like Silence Suzuka and almost escaped it. Might be well spent because of the work he did in his last race. Lost to second place in both of his classics races this year. Never placed lower than 3rd, also lightly raced. Has amazing closing speed looking a his Tokyo performance but doing that in Nakayama in Arima Kinen might prove to be quite hard if you look at who's in front (Titleholder). Catching up with that short ground on the final straight is the challenge. Drew gate 9th, made many winners so far though it's Lemaire's worst gate (Almond Eye).
tl;dr - Monster 3yo with amazing acceleration. Might be well spent from last race.

>Efforia
By Epiphaneia x Katies Heart (Hearts Cry). Last year's horse of the year who Won last year's Arima Kinen. Was a real monster last year but his only two races this year in spring finished 9th and 6th, both in Hanshin Racecourse. Current theories to why he underperformed includes not liking Hanshin, older Mares, and Epiphaneia's progeny being early bloomers. Was supposed to be in Akiten but moved further to Arima due to not being fit. Still pretty fucking fat as of now. His trainer and his jockey Takeshi-san is pretty confident that he can win. He's also back in Nakayama where he won G1 races twice.
tl;dr - Last year's horse of the year, went missing this year. Pretty fucking fat right now.

>Vela Azul --- (Watame's pick)
By Eishin Flash x Vela Blanca (Kurofune). Eishin Flash's best progeny so far. Was born weak, raced in dirt to build up strength and switched to turf this year at 5yo, winning allowance and open races until he won the G2 race Kyoto Daishouten 2400m. Won Japan cup 2400m right after in a thrilling finish beating last year's derby horse Shahryar. Might be well spent due to his campaign this year (6 races so far), Arima will be his 7th race.
tl;dr - Bloomed on turf this year, won Japan Cup. Well spent racing 6 times this year so far.

>Geraldina
By Maurice x Gentildonna (Deep Impact). Crowned princess, her pedigree makes her a royalty. Sire is a great miler and mid distance horse who won 6 G1 races. Grandsire is Grass Wonder who won Arima Kinen twice, got 4 G1 winners. Dam is a filly triple crown horse who won Japan cup twice, won 7 G1s, won her last run Arima Kinen. Damsire is the well known Deep Impact, the triple crown horse who won 7 G1 races including Arima Kinen. Though the horse herself was pretty absent with no notable wins in her 2yo and 3yo career. This year she turned 4yo and had no notable wins throughout spring and summer until she suddenly showed up this autumn and won the G2 race All Comers at 2200m. Moved up to G1 QEII Cup at 2200m and won that race as well. After being treated as a trophy horse, she finally proved her pedigree. Form is great but this will be the first time she's going up to 2500m (+300m). Might be spent as well after racing 6 times so far this year with no summer break.
tl;dr - Literal princess who never had any notable wins until her last two races. Might be spent after racing 6 times so far with no summer break.

>Potager
By Deep Impact x Ginger Punch (Awesome Again). Decent G1 filler who's had good runs in several G1 and G2 races up until he won G1 Osaka Hai 2000m earlier this Sprint. Had bad performance right after that moreso on races where the pace is too fast. This will be the first time he's stepping up to 2500m and it's projected to have a fast pace.
tl;dr - G1 filler who finally won a G1 this year. Arima Kinen might be too long and too fast for him.

>Akai Ito
By Kizuna x Wadjet (Symboli Kris S). Another G1 filler who won QEII 2200m last year. Form is pretty bad this year, nothing notable despite being a G1 winner.
