Sakura is the most unpopular heroine from what I understand. Probably because of how her route is complete bullshit in how Nasu tries to make her appealing. I mean, I get what Nasu was trying to do when he was writing up her route, I mean on paper it sounds alright.

>Okay so here we have a girl who seems nice and pure but actually has consumed more semen than she has food for years now, her sister seemingly doesn't give a shit and has a decent life, both her mother and her father who originally gave her away are now a vegetable and dead. And now she's getting raped every day by worms and later her adoptive brother. Her situation and past are complete shit, seemingly no hope for the future.
>But despite that she still finds hope in her horrible situation, that hope being the protagonist(Shirou).
>She doesn't want her senpai to know her secret so she puts up a happy act in front of her senpai and slowly grows to love him while he is blissfully unaware of her circumstances.
>She wants these happy days to continue but secretly wishes for more too, until the war starts and shit goes down.

Its a decent setup for a route where Shirou has to save the girl who has been suffering for a long time without him being aware and discarding his own ideals/potential future for the girl who has gotten no help and has little to no hope for herself. If it was done right, Sakura might've been one of the most popular heroines in Fate if not all VNs. Even virgin-loving otakus would've liked a setup like this, wanting to save the girl is a classic plot that has existed(and worked) for centuries in literature. So what exactly went wrong for Sakura to be despised? How could such a cute kouhai with large breasts become the infamous "worm whore" who no one but rabid fans seem to like?
