If had no tolerance for simplistic messages I wouldn't have replied with the same, just altering one word. It's no better, but also no worse, and they are free to leave it as is.
It's not intended to be insulting to the poster, and I don't see it as petty. More than anything I just hope they feel motivated to explain why it is cringe if they were compelled to reply in the first place. It often does. If they don't, no skin off my back.
While I suppose based/cringe/epic/win/kys is an opinion, I don't see it as much more than a reaction that anyone could say with equal meaning. Never was compelled to use it, or get anything from others using it. Which again, isn't their problem unless they want others to take it more seriously.
I don't expect to necessarily conform beyond topicality in a place where others don't have to abide by a standard, including mine or yours.

I don't browse or post in places which I think are too shitty for me to bother using, so calling a place too shitty for a certain style of posting doesn't mean much to me. If it really is, you're not seeing me there. It's most certainly possible for people to make a space too shitty for me, but I'm not giving anyone who intentionally gets purpose out of that much headspace - doesn't hold my interest unless they put effort and creativity into it.
