There is no internationally recognized official start of spring. Japan generally considers March 1 to be the start of spring, as I recall.
Not only is there no international start of spring, it also doesn't make sense, since it's fall on the southern hemisphere. If Lily could travel to New Zealand, she could enjoy twice the amount of spring!
