Not everyone has a real waifu. Some people call a character 'waifu' when they feel they are true fans of that character, even if they like real girls and/or have a girlfriend (or a boyfriend).

Some other people just use it as a joke.

But there are this people that think of a character as his wife because they fall in love with it. Don't ask me why or how, but they do.
