This is the last jyu I made via Premiere with a VP9 plugin. It takes a while to export, but the results seem better than Boram. It's great because you can set frame rate and experiment with quality settings, depending on the amount of movement in the clip. (less movement requires less bit rate)

AFAIK: Each pass generates a frame, which are then cross-examined to generate a merged frame with better quality. Try to imagine looking at something in the distance with only your left eye and only your right eye. Each eye will deliver a slightly different image. The merger of using both eyes will generate a more accurate, less distorted image.
