I think you should be cautious about saying that. 経つの事 is barely every used and one of these results is a foreigner speaking poorly. It may not be strictly ungrammatical but it is unusual phrasing which stands out. The instances of a JP person using it I can kind of understand why their mind ended up in that way but for most casual usage it shouldn't be there I think, unless you want to sound weirdly stiff. Therefore it is worth noting rather than writing it off as "the same thing."
