Yeah, its true that failure is required for improvement and it also requires to you to see where you fail but it is also really common to people to hate failing. With some people it creates situation of witch's circle where they hate to fail but want to improve and so they are stuck in infinite loop of not wanting to even start since they know that they fail or atleast they see their work as failure since they are not satisfied with it. Also i dont know if "witch's circle" is really widely known term but it basicly person going in same circles over and over again without getting out of it or advancing forward, in this case getting better in their craft or in craft they desire. I been in such circle for years now, i guess partly because of my alcoholical tendencies and depressing mind set but still.
