EVO for DS is mostly an improvement on sculpt detailing and a maaybe a little bit of flexiblity/improvement in material formula(hard to tell really).

cosplay outfits are really rough to find in smaller sizes for sure. the minimum size seems to be around 145-150cm for US XS or Asian S to get a decent selection of outfits, and even then they dont always fit right.

as far as the build quality, while a few mfg are finally starting to do articulated fingerbones, the fingerwire thing is still the most common. the rest of the build quality is typically pretty decent for that price range. few pay much detail to mouth holes, eyelashes dont adhere well on most, but thats more to not damage the material in the processs and the fact that light adhesive doesnt stick well to TPE. a tiny dab of superglue typically fixes those.

as far as the skeletons go, avoid goosenecks if you find one that still uses it, but most have gone away from that. some mfg can be stiffer than others and a few try to hide the bolts for standing feet(though a few fuck up those holes and tightness completely, looking at you z-one).

sculpt design is largely mfg based, and anything Mizuali does is pretty good typically, but most at the 1-3k teir have pretty solid designs and details.

inserts are usually shit on most dolls due to similar designs to the Lazuli above, where they have an outer detail built into the body, but then the hole is a shitty little tube that never fits right. DSdoll and 4woods are the few two i know of that actually go with a general outer lips on the body, and the full inner part on the hole, which works out pretty damn well, even if it looses out slightly on aesthetics. never had an issue with my DS style insert.
