Late to this, but basically just don't be an english version of Kizuna Ai or any other existing popular japanese vtuber. If I wanted to watch Ai, I'd watch Ai. I think that's what a lot of new vtubers are getting wrong. New vtubers need a personality that stands out from the rest, that's why Luna exploded in popularity so quickly and is #2 despite debuting far later than Siro or Akari.

If you ask me, get a voice actor that can speak some Japanese and play to the airheaded foreigner weeaboo stereotype. Think Chloe Lemaire from Girlfriend Beta, Emily Stewart from Idolm@ster, or Karen from Kiniro Mosaic. They love that shit.
