I found a cheap 25 dollar ona torso that just uses a bent wire. It was nice plenty enough stability.

Have you considered tightly wrapping a soft hole in fabric or layers of socks? Tightly stuffing a soft hole into a plush toy makes the whole experience way better. Though it can get too tight and make it impossible to finish.
