It means that death is an unalienable thing to you. Someone might be able to do things you could and take the task, but no one can die in your place: your death is your and no one else's, so you inevitably die alone.

It's a basic existentialist tenant (being-towards-death): you gain authenticity in existence when you acknowledge your constitutional finitude. However, Deleuze said once that it's animals who know how to die, and men, when they die, they die as animals. In any case, death it's the true and only egalitarian quality among humans: the only thing we're all equal in, is death (not agony, but death).
