Well, I think /jp/ is doing quite fine with the on topic discussion. You can't take away the occasional nonsense and waifuing, otherwise this thread would have 1-2 new posts every 2 days though. Just let everyone have fun and focus on the content you like.

/v/'s MMDs is a whole different thing of course, but I personally don't consider it a place for serious discussion, except for the times when a new game is launched (and that is, like, 1 time every 2 years or so). It's just a gateway for people going wild once a week and I don't think it is harmful at all. I would think otherwise if people starts creating new threads everyday a la Senran Kagura though.
