I had a placement in Shanghai for an MNC, worked for 12 months there before returning. Learning Chinese during the placement and for a year before leaving was very useful for living, but didn't translate into a lot of extra money. The consensus amongst expats is that the goldrush is slowing down, and that you should get in quick while you can arbitrage your skin colour.

This what I did for a good a six months working for a 'friend' on the side. Of course, that friend got a good deal of info on EU investment.

I've now left that MNC to complete my uni degree. It seems that there's a lot of interest in employers in the skills and competencies I learned while in China, but less interest in Chinese as a language. I understand you complete when you say that native Chinese speakers, or even EU-born Chinese with Chinese as a second language, have a better competitive advantage that I have.

I'm focusing on accountancy and tax law in my jurisdiction to advise Chinese outward investment. Where do you see demand going for investment in the next 5 years?
