So, while we're waiting for Gensokyo Man to get his ass back on the computer, I have aquestion to ask.

What the fuck is "A Dog Of Flanders"?

I've seen it being referred to in a few anime here and there, and even in a few manga/doujins. As far as I can tell it's a book and/or a movie.

But with a title like that, it sounds Western. So why do the Japanese make so many references to it?
