I don't think the writers really hated him that much since despite his wimpyness he's still got a bro-tier relationship with the protagonist and is actually shown to be very capable in Rakuen. And I mean there's plenty of other foreigner characters who don't just get played for laughs.

I haven't really followed this, but did they already reveal the writer who is going to main Rakuen? The whole game's going to be one big route with separate heroine epilogues, right?
