There's the reason mentioned in >>9745702, but even if given the time most of us won't learn Japanese. Studying requires effort. Effort requires motivation. Motivation requires either external pressure (deadlines and the like) or discipline. And proper discipline is a bit of a rarity, especially on a place like /jp/. Regardless of how much you want to do something, without external pressures you need to have a certain amount of discipline to get yourself to start doing it, or you'll just start lazing around. I'm completely free for half a year, and I want to develop games, but most of the time I'm just browsing the internet or playing games, even though I love developing games. During game jams such as Ludum Dare (make a game in 48 hours, from concept to final product) I can work almost non-stop, ending up with a result which makes people go 'holy shit, did you make that in just two days?'. But it's been well over three weeks since last Ludum Dare, and the project I've started after LD has less effort put into it than the game I made during LD, even though I've had over ten times as much time. Laziness is generally considered as something you 'should just stop doing', but in practice it's a bitch to overcome, and I, for one, can't manage to do that.
