Hey, I'm technically a cross-boarder since I don't come to /jp/ much. I've been to /jp/ once in a blue moon but remember as far back as 7 years ago and these threads being here. It's incredibly nostalgic. but I just wanted to say that your last paragraph really speaks to me.

This might not be exactly related to trains, but I work at a semi-rural Costco gas station. It's simple work, but I love it because of the reasons you describe. Doing the morning routine of paperwork and cleaning, as the sun slowly reaches out over the station. The clouds slowly passing over head, sometimes in the distance, giving you a glance at their magnificent shape. Sharing a chat with the regulars while watching the day go by as the sun climbs higher up into the sky. Sometimes just watching people come in, quickly scuffle out of their vehicle while talking wistfully on their phones, carrying on with their lives.

It's a wonderful feeling, therapeutic even. What you've said about this in your last paragraph really attests to the power of just taking in the world around you. There is beauty to be found anywhere.

Sorry for blogshit, I just really wanted to you to know that someone out there appreciates your perspective, and can relate.
