I don't think Kanata's lying. There's actually a weird disconnect between the teaser of the MV and the MV itself.

You can see in the teaser that the girl actually talks to the boy as a lover. This is in contrast with the MV where the girl doesn't even know that the boy exists.

Kanata was pretty excited when she got the MIA seiyuus to voice the teaser and didn't really say anything about the teaser having a twist like that.
