I posted this a few hours ago and I thought it was someone else because I could have sworn I said "Touhou dream" instead of "Youmu dream". Weird.

That's a little scary. The closest thing to this that's happened to me is a long time ago when I thought the Junji Ito hole story was completely text only, and thinking it was a really weird coincidence when I saw someone post the actual manga one time. But it's never gotten so bad that I've completely misplaced the events of a story.
I guess you could say it "spoke" to me in a way, but I feel like it would be much more relevant to me now, which is why I've been curious about finding it again. But, I remember that specific time period when I found it as well. Or maybe I dreamed that up too? Maybe it just wasn't as widespread on /jp/ as I thought it was and it was just that one thread. I don't know, I hope it's real, I still want to read it. Lately my sleep schedule has been closer to normal, but usually it's pretty bad. I don't think I've ever completely confused dreams for reality though.

Do you think the academic literature on otaku subculture is particularly insightful or does wanking off to fictional characters take precedence over reading when it comes to how you spend your free time.
