With the talk about oni, I'd like to take the moment to bring up the question what species Meiling is supposed to be.
With her red hair, great brawn and Chinese heritage, she's got some of the attributes of a lesser attendant of Di Yu, serving under Oxhead and Horseface. The same creatures on an institutional religious level that influenced the modern appearance of oni in folklore.
But those could as well be coincidences.

Perhaps with Meiling being youkai and all and thus reforming instantaneously even after being "parted in five", maybe having a knife jammed into her rather soft and delicate nether regions isn't actually such a big deal.
Still makes me uneasy thinking of it, though.
