Yeah. In the ACIII canon, Edward was only mentioned once as a seafaring man, while the Haytham Kenway novel released before Black Flag's existence expanded on Edward's later life after Black Flag, in that he was depicted as an overprotective father for his daughter, Jenny. He died protecting his family from Templar marauders.
