With Mashimaro, you also get 2 choices in common route to hang out with the girl of your choice before finally deciding which route to take and some of the character development happens in common route as well since it's quite lengthy.

Adding a choice to the ero would be nice, but it's also an extra cost for additional H scenes and voice acting. Yuzusoft games like Senren Banka kinda do this by letting you choose if you want to do anal or not.
