I gotta say I was surprised at how much I liked the Lady Amru in Exet's game. This apophis is some sort of fantasy medieval version of a gamer girl, having a tanuki deliver her new tabletop games and such every week.

Plus being her servant mostly just means being asked to dance at the parties she throws.

On another note, I may be reading into things but the game seems to indicate that calling a high rank lamia a "bunyip" is something of an insult.

That is when Leah challenges Amru, she taunts her by asking if she is a apophis or a bunyip and everyone in the room reacts with shock as if she just said something derogatory.

You haven't read the settings info form World Guide 2? It contains a fairly detailed history of the ancient desert kingdoms. They flourished in an age before mamono lords, indeed perhaps before monsters were created (its said that monsters didn't exist then, and yet monster-like beings are seen in some hieroglyphs, suggesting monsters existed but not in the human-killing hordes that they became known for).

An apophis is seen in the images of the fall of the kingdoms, uniting the monsters (which is the purpose of a mamono lord, implying it was one).
